Land for Holyhead Brexit customs facility "hiding in plain sight"

Ynys Môn Anglesey Council fail

Cadno Môn previously reported on 5th November 2020 regarding the shambolic delivery of a Brexit customs facility in the Holyhead A55 vicinity except because of delays (like finding the land) the facility might be located in England. What a massive own goal that would be!

Cadno  Môn would commend WAG /Ynys  Môn Council and the local landowner working together to release Turnpike Nant land at A55 J6 for the Brexit customs facility.

The land in question was acquired by a well-known contractor developer about 20+ years ago when the A55 was being constructed. In 2008, consent was renewed for a service station facility (first granted in 2005) but apart from safeguarding the approval through an infrastructure access road, the approval has just sat there.

On the 15th October 2008, The Daily Post reported Turnpike Nant services infrastructure access was being put in place. The development would provide 50 permanent jobs etc - see the link below:

WAG / Ynys Môn Council could compulsorily acquire the land, given its strategic importance and "National importance."

The land is hiding in plain sight - why no action?

Brexit customs facility - Wales 0 - 1 England (Wales own goal)

The Daily Post reported online today:

"Holyhead port's post Brexit customs checks will be done in England until new island facility built"

If this is true, it's a shocking indictment of how WAG/Anglesey Council "does business."

The question is:

1. Who was tasked to open the Mona facility?

2. When was an instruction given for the facility to be ready?

3. Was there sufficient funding?

4. Why has there been an epic fail to deliver this project on budget on time?

5. What chance is there of the English facility becoming "permanent?"

6. How will the project be fast-tracked and is there sufficient funding?

7. Who is to be tasked with the on-time delivery of the facility?

8. Will the local AM Rhun Ap Iorweth clarify the foregoing in a statement to the Senedd?

Is it not time the relevant authorities vigorously exploited Anglesey's strategic location post Brexit for the benefit of the local workforce?
